About the
National Construction Summit
Shaping Implementable Solutions for South Africa’s Construction Industry Challenges

Over the years
Theme Focus: Crime-Free Construction Sites
The inaugural National Construction Summit was convened in response to crime, extortion and disruptions affecting construction sites. It brought together government, law-enforcement agencies and construction-industry stakeholders to develop coordinated interventions for safer and more stable construction environments.
Our Story
The National Construction Summit (NCS) is a national industry platform established to identify, troubleshoot and develop coordinated solutions to challenges affecting South Africa’s construction industry.
Convened by the Construction Industry Development Board (cidb), in partnership with the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure, the Summit brings together government, contractors, built-environment professionals, industry bodies, labour, academia and private-sector partners.
The National Construction Summit aims to:
-
Identify and address challenges affecting the construction industry
-
Develop practical and implementable solutions
-
Strengthen collaboration between government and industry
-
Improve accountability and industry performance
-
Support contractor development and transformation
-
Promote innovation and digitalisation
-
Accelerate sustainable infrastructure delivery
Our Purpose
From Dialogue to Action
The NCS is more than an annual event. It is a platform for collective problem-solving, shared commitments and coordinated implementation.
Through ongoing collaboration and progress monitoring, the Summit seeks to translate industry dialogue into practical interventions that strengthen the construction sector and improve infrastructure delivery.
